GOD Is NEVER the AUTHOR of TEMPTATION
Have you ever wondered why people are tempted on a daily basis?
Temptation is one of humanity’s oldest *battles* . From Eden until now, people have often looked for someone else to *blame* when they fail or fall. Some blame circumstances. Others *blame the devil.* A few even, knowingly or unknowingly, try to place responsibility on God.
Listen to me ” _Whenever you feel tempted to do something bad, you should not say, “God is tempting me.” Evil cannot tempt God, and God himself does not tempt anyone – James 1.13 (ERV)_ James settles the matter clearly: God is never the source of temptation.
God may *test* your faith, but He will never *tempt* you to sin. A test is designed to *strengthen* you; *temptation* is designed to *weaken* you. A test reveals what is in you, while temptation tries to pull out what should not rule you.
When life becomes difficult, it is easy to ask, “Why is God allowing this?” But we must never confuse divine testing with satanic temptation. God refines; He does not corrupt. He builds; He does not destroy.*
The enemy may set the *bait* , but he cannot force the *bite* . Temptation may knock at your door, but it cannot walk in unless invited.
_And here is a truth worth remembering: if God had wanted you to fail, He would not have given you His Word, His Spirit, and His grace to overcome._
Reflection
– Have I ever blamed God for struggles that were actually temptations?
– Am I discerning the difference between a test and a temptation?
Prayer
Father, thank You because You are holy, pure, and good. Help me never to misunderstand Your character. Give me discernment to recognize temptation for what it is, and grace to overcome every trial without blaming You. Strengthen my heart to trust Your goodness at all times. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
