REPEATED SIN WEAKENS RESISTANCE
Treating sin as a weakness gives it a foothold in your life.* By labeling it a weakness, we often excuse it or accept it as a natural flaw, whereas recognizing it for what it is allows you to actively overcome it.
Sin becomes more dangerous when it becomes familiar.
“…and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” – James 1:15 (KJV)
The first time, your conscience shouts. The second time, it whispers. After a while… it becomes silent. That is the danger of repeated compromise.
What you repeatedly practice eventually feels normal, even when it is wrong.
A person who once felt guilty about lying may later lie comfortably.
What changed?
Resistance became weaker.
“Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?” — Proverbs 6:27_
Every repeated SIN trains the heart to tolerate more. That is why small compromises should be confronted early. Because what you continue feeding will continue growing.
Some people used to say: “God forbid!”, Now they say: “Everybody is doing it.”
Be careful when conviction starts reducing.
A *soft conscience* is a gift.
Don’t lose it.
Listen, the goal is not just avoiding punishment. The goal is protecting your heart.
Reflection
– Have I become comfortable with something that once convicted me?
– Is my spiritual sensitivity becoming weaker?
Prayer
– Father, keep my heart tender and sensitive to Your voice. Help me never to become comfortable with sin. Restore conviction where compromise has weakened me, and strengthen me to walk in holiness daily. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
