SIN IS NOT A JOKE

I’m glad to begin another series today titled When Sin Becomes a Joke. I trust God that your life will be enriched spiritually via this series.

We live in a generation where almost everything can become entertainment:

Cheating becomes a joke.
Lust becomes content.
Drunkenness becomes a lifestyle.
Lying becomes “being smart.”
Bitterness becomes “protecting my peace.”

And sometimes, we laugh at the very things God warns us about.

“Fools mock sin [but sin mocks the fools]…” — Proverbs 14:9 (AMP)

But Scripture gives us a serious warning: “Sin mocks the fools.”

Sin can look funny at the beginning. But the consequences are rarely funny at the end.

The problem isn’t that we laugh. The problem is when we stop fearing what can destroy us.

Sin often enters through a joke, a curiosity, a private message, a “harmless” habit, or a simple compromise. Then one day, what you thought you were playing with is playing with you.

Some will say, “I can stop anytime.” That sentence has defended more bad habits than we can count.

The question isn’t: “Can I get away with it?” The better question is: “Is this pleasing God?”

Because something can be popular and still be poisonous. Something can be normalised and still be wrong. Something can be funny and still be dangerous.

Don’t Mock What You Should Be Resisting

Grace doesn’t mean sin is harmless. Grace means God gives us the power to walk away from it.

“Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.” — Romans 6:12 (NKJV)

Reflection

What have I started treating casually that God wants me to take seriously?

Prayer

Father, give me wisdom to recognise sin before it becomes a stronghold. Help me not to normalise what You call wrong. Give me the courage to walk away from temptation and the humility to return to You when I fall. Let my life honour You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Don’t laugh with sin today and cry over its consequences tomorrow.
